XProtect 2020 R3 Release

In the 3rd XProtect release for 2020, Milestone Systems introduces several new features and capabilities, including:

Security and Data Protection

XProtect 2020 R3 uses the latest encryption technology provided by Microsoft, making sure user information such as usernames, passwords, and devices are encrypted end-to-end.

Also highly secure encryption and password-protected configuration allow XProtect 2020 R3 to operate in a Windows FIPS 140-2 compliant mode. FIPS 140-2 is a US government computer security standard used to define the parameters used in crypotography encryption moues. All software solutions deployed in the US government and regulated industries like healthcare and finance must comply with this standard.

Video Performance Improvements

XProtect 2020 R3 allows multi-category Search allows users to combine and search across multiple Search categories to quickly find what is needed. The Search categories include people, vehicle and location as well as any Search agents developed and integrated into XProtect by third-party technology partners like Bosch, Hanwha and Axis. Also introduced is a new and optimised video processing engine in the XProtect Smart Client, which allows it to sustain a high frame rate, even when zooming Ultra HD/4K or 360-degree cameras.

XProtect 2020 R3 also provides extended device support includes any 360-degree cameras that deliver a complete round fish-eye view, providing customers with greater freedom of choice when building or expanding their installation.

Camera and Device Flexibility

XProtect 2020 R3 creates device credentials during discovery. With some leading camera manufacturers hardening their systems by preventing users from connecting devices with default credentials. This is great for cybersecurity, but not practical if you have multiple cameras to connect to your system. To help operators stay secure and efficient, we added a new feature that allows users of relevant devices from e.g., Axis, BOSCH, Hanwha and Avigilon to configure the initial usernames and passwords directly from the ”Add Hardware” wizard in the XProtect Management Client.

XProtect 2020 R3 also brings support for an additional 566 new devices.
